The Legal Research Office of the National Assembly of South Korea released a report today titled "Corruption Issues and Improvements of Public Officials Related to Virtual Assets". The investigative agency stated that with the recent increase in accessibility and frequency of use of virtual assets, there are concerns that public officials may have conflicts of interest related to virtual assets; therefore, it is necessary to study the rules for preventing conflicts of interest that apply universally to all public officials, especially to prevent public officials from concealing property through virtual currencies or engaging in improper property appreciation and profiteering.

It is reported that South Korea has not yet included virtual currency in the property registration and disclosure system for public officials. (Kyunghyang News)
