PANews reported on December 26 that according to Cointelegraph, cybercrime intelligence company Hudson Rock recently stated that it had discovered that 400 million Twitter user data containing private emails and associated phone numbers were being sold on the black market. The private database contains a large amount of information, including emails and phone numbers of well-known users such as AOC, Kevin O'Leary, Vitalik Buterin, Mark Cuban and others.
Hudson Rock said it could not fully verify the hackers' claims given the number of accounts, but said "independent verification of the data itself appears to be legitimate." Web3 security company DeFiYield looked at 1,000 sample accounts provided by the hackers and verified that the data was "authentic." It also contacted the hackers via Telegram and noted that they were actively waiting for a buyer.
