[NBA’s LaMelo and Lonzo Ball and their father star in NFT game “StrayShot”]
Development company iBloxx Studios recently announced that its upcoming game "StrayShot" will partner with NBA players LaMelo and Lonzo Ball, as well as their family brand Big Baller Brand (BBB), to turn the Ball brothers and family members into in-game NFT characters.
Character details for LaMelo and Lonzo will be visible to players once the game launches. The game, formerly known as 0xBattleGround, is now in public beta and is expected to be officially released in February 2024. According to game images and iBloxx CEO Domenik Maier, the two player characters will wear military-style and BBB-branded clothing. Additionally, NFTs licensed by the Ball family will be launched.
BBB founder LaVar Ball, his wife Tina and their youngest son LiAngelo will also be characters in the game. LaVar thinks he and his kids will dominate not just on the basketball court, but in "StrayShot."
LaMelo, a member of the Charlotte Hornets, is rated one of the top 50 players in the NBA by ESPN, while Lonzo is currently on hiatus due to injury and previously played with the Los Angeles Lakers. Both brothers are passionate about video games.
"StrayShot" utilizes Ethereum's SKALE for blockchain transactions. According to SKALE Labs CEO Jack O’Holleran, all items in the game will become NFTs, but the transaction process will be hidden from players.
The game's NFTs can be won and sold in-game, and ERC-20 tokens will also be introduced that players can earn through competitions.
While the BBB brand was criticized for receiving an "F" rating in 2018, it has now been improved to a "C+." In 2020, LaVar Ball claimed the BBB brand was valued at $1 billion, but this valuation has not been confirmed.
