Let me slowly check and share some updates about Ex Populus for you!
This is the news for November 2022:
When Ex Populus announced LAMO last year, XP worked closely with LAMO LLC, the third-party development studio behind LAMOverse and its related toy lines and AR experiences. The two companies are independent, with Ex Populus serving as LAMO’s game publisher, providing funding to support LAMO’s development and providing marketing support.
Over time, it became apparent that making LAMO even better would be more effective if the two companies fully merged their efforts. Therefore, the decision was made to fully acquire LAMO by Ex Populus. We are very excited to share that this will accelerate the development of LAMO and look forward to sharing updates more frequently. To read the release, click here or continue reading below.

Ex Populus hired a AAA game director at the same time as acquiring LAMO. LAMO has made a splash over the past few years by licensing many of the top game streamers, making them playable characters in PC games and collectible interactive vinyl figures. Ex Populus will use interoperable Web3 technology to tie these media together.
The addition of this game series expands Ex Populus’ already impressive portfolio of games. At the same time, Ex Populus hired Joseph Ganetakos, who was previously part of the senior design team for the Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs series (Ubisoft) and was previously a game director at Netease.
Rainer Zheim, co-creator of LAMO said: “Joseph and Tobias are the perfect leaders to take LAMO to the next stage of the Web3 gaming ecosystem. I am excited to continue supporting LAMO and its future development.”
Joseph plans to expand the PC gaming experience into a full kingdom-building multiplayer ARPG, set in a fantasy archipelago world, where players interact with narrative campaigns, develop their own islands, and participate in ranked PvP and social events to earn rewards and reputation. Web3 technology will make it easier for players to move their collections and creations around the Metaverse.
Joseph Ganetakos, Gaming Director at LAMO, said: “As someone who is passionate about introducing people to world-class entertainment experiences, I look forward to helping Ex Populus introduce players to the Web3 space. I am excited to join this amazing team who have already demonstrated their commitment to excellence in creating gaming experiences.”
“Having Joseph in charge of game development for LAMO, and the amazing creative IP developed by the LAMO team, is a dream come true for Ex Populus and what we believe in Web3 as a whole,” said Tobias Batton, co-founder and CEO of Ex Populus.
Ex Populus is backed by Animoca, Com2US, CMS, CitizenX, and several other notable gaming and Web3 investors. Over the past year, the company has sold multiple collectibles, including LAMO avatars, decentralized autonomous GigaUnits trading card sets, and Mike Tyson’s Iron Pigeon trading card set, as well as the trading card management and evolution game Final Form, which is now available here.
