๐Attention BTC enthusiasts! A new system called "BitVM" has been proposed by Robert Linus, project lead at Bitcoin development group ZeroSync, which could allow developers to "compute anything on Bitcoin" and make it more similar to Ethereum. ๐
BitVM is a computing paradigm that enables Turing complete Bitcoin contracts without requiring any changes to Bitcoin's code. Instead of executing complex computations on the blockchain, they would be verified on Bitcoin with computation done off-chain. This could enable more expressive Bitcoin contracts and even make games like Chess, Go, or Poker possible on Bitcoin! ๐ฎ
However, BitVM does have its limitations, such as being limited to a two-party setting with a prover and a verifier, and requiring significant amounts of off-chain computation and communication. Despite these drawbacks, this proposal has generated over 2.4 million impressions on Twitter and has the potential to bring Ethereum programs to Bitcoin. ๐
