What is a GigaUnit?
To understand, you need to know a little bit about network culture, specifically GigaChads and Absolute Units: "GigaChad and Absolute Unit fell in love and had lots of babies. Be in awe of the size of these big guys. These GigaUnits are decentralized because they live on the blockchain. These GigaUnits are autonomous because, let’s be honest, no one tells a GigaUnit what to do."
Genesis deck
Decentralized Autonomous GigaUnits (DAGs) are the first creative IP included in the Ex Populus Trading Card Game. The game will include original IP made in-house by Ex Populus, such as DAGs, as well as existing IP from other games, entertainment franchises, celebrities, and athletes. The Ex Populus Trading Card Game is similar to Steam Trading Cards. You will be able to collect these cards and bring them into battle based on your favorite games and projects in the Ex Populus ecosystem.
Animation content
This is Ex Populus' first creative IP, and despite its humor, we see a ton of potential in these DAGs. If you check out the Team section of the site, you'll see we've assembled a pretty impressive team, starting in Hollywood and creating amazing content using GigaUnits. Most of the media originally produced by Ex Populus has been high-quality, short-form content made for the web. But these DAGs are so worthy of being made into web culture, that we're confident that with your help, we can make these bad boys into a full series.
Throughout its short history, Ex Populus has always maintained itself as a company dedicated to providing the highest quality entertainment to the industry. Quality can come in many forms. You see, at XP, we’re avid fans of series like Rick and Morty, The Midnight Gospel, Futurama, The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, Agent Archer, and many more. These shows have become deeply ingrained in global pop culture and mainstream media for the often edgy and confrontational humor they present, not to mention how hilarious they are.
Perhaps more notably, we all grew up loving classic animated series like He-Man, ThunderCats, ThunderSlayer, and Starhawk. Like many of our generation, we managed to watch old Mad Max, Beastmaster, and of course Conan when our parents weren’t looking. Somehow, in the 1980s, there was a ton of content about hunky men wearing leather belts, high boots, and scant underwear wielding their “magic swords,” and much of it was marketed to children. Looking back on it as an adult, we can’t help but raise an eyebrow as this perhaps clichéd, even toxic depiction of masculinity also took on an unexpectedly sexy quality. Somehow, George Miller, Frank Frazetta, and the Mattel Toy Company all found common ground in this unique, peculiar trend.
Decentralized Autonomous GigaUnits sit at the intersection of degenerate culture, meme culture, prime-time adult animation, and of course, the children’s animation and movies that many of us who grew up in the 1980s watched that were probably inspired by B.D.S.M. If you still don’t understand, just watch this and this.
So why would you want these ridiculous GigaUnits?
I mean, just look at these GigaUnits. The line work, the style, the colors, the variety. The artwork itself is of the highest quality you'll find in contemporary 2D rendered comedic adult animation with primetime ambitions (yeah, step aside Rick and Morty!).
Format and structure
First, we decided to launch DAG on Solana. While we are very bullish on Ethereum, gas prices have become too expensive for growth. We believe in a multi-chain world and a permissionless metaverse, but achieving these goals will be difficult without being blockchain agnostic. Whether you are an Ethereum bull or a Solana bull, you are an early adopter of Web 3 and you care about building a better web. Ex Populus cares too, which is why we are the first Web 3 entertainment company to deploy a project on both chains. We see this as an opportunity to bring together two of the most passionate communities in Web 3. Hopefully, we can learn new things from each other, as a community.
We are still working out the pricing details for DAGs, but we will be rewarding our LAMOverse holders with early access to the sale. After the early window for LAMOverse holders, we will open another window for individuals who registered on the website and linked their Solana wallet on or before December 6th. We will also be giving away special NFTs that you will be able to mint early if you hold them. Finally, the final window will be open to the public. DAG Club will open when it is ready, but we expect this to be in early December.
