The specialized NFT community, whose representatives own the original Doge meme, together with the Japanese authorities are planning to erect a monument in honor of the dog Kabuso, whose image became the basis for the famous meme.

The opening of the monument is scheduled for November 2 in Sakura, Kabuso’s birthday.

The statue will be located at Sakura Furusato Square, a place that Kabosu and her owner visit for leisurely strolls.

The dog meme originated in 2010 when Atsuko Sato took a photo of her dog Kabosu for her blog. Its popularity has become so high that user John Monarch, who shared an image from Atsuko's blog, coined the name "doge" for the dog on Reddit.
