Distribution will be expanded to a wider EU audience later this year Popular self-custody wallet MetaMask is launching a new debit card for making direct payments with crypto assets, developed jointly with payment giant Mastercard and cryptocurrency payment specialist Baanx.
As the firm stated to the media, the launch is being done through a limited pilot program, offering a few thousand digital cards to users in countries in the European Union (which includes Spain) and the United Kingdom. The card works in a similar way to a traditional debit card, but offers the possibility of making direct purchases with the cryptocurrencies available in the Metamask wallet. This means that users do not need to transfer funds to another platform to complete their purchases, maintaining custody of their coins at all times.
