At the end of July, Thiago Nigro, known as Primo Rico, made the decision to sell all his Bitcoins when the cryptocurrency was priced at R$380,000. This decision came at a critical time, as Bitcoin depreciated in the market a few days later.
This is because the currency suffered a 20% drop in its value, reflecting growing turbulence in the global financial market.
The crisis began to unfold with the collapse of stock markets around the world, which resulted in a climate of uncertainty and fear among investors. In addition, the recent interest rate cut by the Bank of Japan contributed to a new wave of concern, leading investors to fear a potential global liquidity crisis.
In this scenario, many wondered whether the sudden market movements could trigger a series of negative events that would affect global financial stability. Before that, however, some investors had been closing some of their positions.
Primo Rico talks about selling bitcoins
With Bitcoin's value falling and the stock market unstable, Thiago Nigro decided to consult his more than 9 million followers on Instagram. In a story last Monday (5), with one of the photos alongside influencer Maíra Cardi, he published a questionnaire about his decision to sell Bitcoin.
Despite the open question, followers could only answer “yes” or “no”, and the results of the poll were not shared by the influencer until Tuesday afternoon (6).
In any case, the situation indicates at least that in the short term, the YouTuber and finance influencer was right, avoiding participating in the 20% drop in bitcoin.
It is worth remembering that, if Primo Rico sold for R$383 thousand each, he is still in a comfortable situation, given that this Tuesday Bitcoin is quoted at R$320 thousand, that is, the price is still operating at 16% below what he sold for.
Should Thiago Nigro buy bitcoin again?
It is worth remembering that after selling his bitcoin position, Primo Rico was still optimistic about the future of the digital currency, claiming that he will buy again soon.
Nigro believes that cryptocurrency can be a good option for investment diversification and protection against inflation.
In other words, everything indicates that in the future, still unknown, he will buy again, and as he has shared about the sales, he should comment on the action of rebuilding his position.
Another person who shared that he had sold all his bitcoins was Lord Vinheteiro, but he regretted it and bought everything back again.
