From MATIC to POL: Polygon's 2.0 Upgrade Targets Internet-Level Scalability

Polygon is gearing up for its Polygon 2.0 upgrade, aiming to boost scalability and interoperability using zero-knowledge (ZK) technology. This transformation seeks to create an internet-like network of ZK-powered chains, expanding Ethereum's capacity without compromising security.

Three key Polygon Improvement Proposals (PIPs) have been introduced, starting implementation in early Q4 after community approval. The initial changes focus on Ethereum contracts, transitioning from MATIC to POL and adding a Staking Layer for validators.

Polygon believes that with ZK tech, Ethereum can match the internet's vastness. This transition will also enable MATIC to be swapped for POL at a 1:1 ratio, and upgrades will roll out in phases.
