A member of Congress asked Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity): "Will the government support startups that innovate in the field of Web3 in the form of incubation or guidance?" The latter pointed out that blockchain is "an important part of Web3." He further stated: "Web3 represents the future of the Internet, and the government is committed to ensuring that innovators in India create the future of Web3 and the Internet." Chandrasekhar then outlined the various initiatives taken by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to support Web3 startups. (Bitcoin.com) Earlier, in response to the question "When can India see a bill for Web3", Jayant Sinha, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Finance of the Indian Parliament and Parliamentary Minister of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said in an interview at the Indian Blockchain Week that India is unlikely to propose a legislative bill for cryptocurrency or Web3 in the short term, and it may not be until mid-2025.
