VanEck told when Bitcoin will reach $2.9 million
According to VanEck experts’ “base case scenario,” the price of the first cryptocurrency could reach $2.9 million by 2050 amid the adoption of the asset as a global medium of exchange and reserve currency.
The company's head of digital asset research, Matthew Siegel, and senior investment analyst Patrick Bush believe that in the event of a bearish development of events, quotes will rise to $130,314. The most favorable estimate was $52.4 million.
VanEck’s “base case scenario” assumes that by 2050, Bitcoin will account for 10% of global trade, and central banks will transfer 2.5% of reserves into digital gold.
As a result, the capitalization of the cryptocurrency will reach $61 trillion.
In their calculations, experts relied on forecasts for global economic growth, an increase in the debt burden of developed countries and changes in the international monetary system.
The report noted that solving Bitcoin's historical scaling problem through the development of L2 solutions will allow the asset to effectively serve global finance.
