PEPE Telegram channel hacked, scammer advertises fraudulent tokens
An unauthorized person hacked the old PEPE Telegram channel. These individuals used the channel to promote fraudulent activities. PEPE urged its members to only follow official messages on their Twitter account.
In a recent announcement, the cryptocurrency community PEPE reported a security breach involving their old Telegram channel. According to the update, the Telegram channel previously under their control has been compromised and the "lordkeklol" account has passed into the hands of an unauthorized person.
The administration of the meme cryptocurrency Pepe has reached out to the community to share this information. According to the update, this unauthorized person allegedly used the hacked account to promote fraudulent activities, including advertising scams and launching other cryptocurrencies for the Pepe community.
In response to this situation, PEPE issued a strong statement emphasizing that this individual has absolutely no connection to the PEPE community, past or present.
To resolve this issue and protect the community, PEPE urged its members to take action by reporting the hacked PEPE Telegram group as a “fake account.” The Pepe administration believes that joint efforts will help remove the hacked Telegram channel.
Moreover, the Pepe administration mentioned that the community will install a new account with improved security measures. In addition, the Pepe administration emphasized that all official communications from the project team will be exclusively through their Twitter account.
Meanwhile, the administration drew attention to another fraudulent Twitter account imitating the hacked "lordkeklol" account. The Pepe team noted that the current Twitter account @lordkeklol is not affiliated with PEPE and should be flagged as spam or spoof.
It should be noted that these notices from the Pepe team came after former internal members stole 16 trillion. PEPE tokens, equivalent to approximately $15 million at the time of the hack. The stolen funds were then transferred to several centralized exchanges.
