Denmark's Financial Supervisory Authority (DFSA) has dismissed rumors of a ban on self-custodial cryptocurrency wallets, often referred to as non-custodial wallets. The misinformation was circulating on social media, but DFSA's director for fintech, payments services, and governance, Tobias Thygesen, clarified that no such ban has been proposed. This follows the DFSA's recent regulatory assessment of decentralization in the context of the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) Regulation. Thygesen explained that MiCA explicitly exempts crypto asset services provided in a fully decentralized manner, meaning non-custodial wallets are not subject to MiCA regulation.
