Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) condemned the decision by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to lift the ban from American striker Folarin Balogun. “Suspending for a one-year probationary period the operation of an automatic one-match ban imposed on Balogun after he was sent off crossed a red line,” UEFA said in a statement. “Sometimes the rules allow for different interpretations. In this case, they do not. The minimum automatic one-match suspension after a sending-off is not a matter of discretion and does not require a decision by any competent body for it to take effect. This is a principle set out in the regulations, which cannot become the subject of exceptions.” UEFA also noted that during this World Cup, several players had already found themselves in a similar situation and, in accordance with established procedure, served their bans. “When compliance with the rules is no longer guaranteed by those who are required to defend them, the integrity of the game and trust in the competition are put at risk #UEFA #FIFA $BTC {future}(BTCUSDT)
