Fake Breakout (Fakeout)
When BTC price moves above resistance or below support, it looks like a breakout and that a trend has started โ for example, above resistance in a bullish move or below support in a bearish move.
Traders (who donโt do proper analysis) get tricked and enter, but the price quickly falls back inside the range.
On the chart where it says โFake breakoutโ, thatโs exactly what happened โ BTC tried to break the purple zone but failed and dropped back down.
Retest
When a real breakout happens (price moving upward), the price often comes back down a little to test the same level again.
If another candle forms here and sustains above the resistance level, then itโs a good point to take entry.
If that level now holds as new support/resistance, the breakout is confirmed and the trend continues.
On the chart where the arrow says โRetestโ, BTC broke resistance, came back down to test it, and then continued upward.
