ASIA LOSES MORE THAN $800 BILLION IN ONE DAY: THE THREE FORCES BEHIND IT POINT TO THE UNITED STATES
๐ Asian markets went through one of their worst sessions of the year. South Koreaโs KOSPI plunged by 8.2%, wiping out nearly $426 billion in value. Japanโs Nikkei fell 2.8% ($217B) and Taiwan lost another $154B. In total, more than $800 billion vanished in hours.
๐บ๐ธ And why does everything point to the US? Three forces behind the collapse:
1๏ธโฃ Tech selloff on Wall Street โ A sharp drop in semiconductor stocks (Micron, Nvidia, Broadcom) directly spread to Asian giants like Samsung and SK Hynix.
2๏ธโฃ Fears about the Federal Reserve โ Speculation that the Fed could keep a more "hawkish" stance (fewer rate cuts) hit global risk appetite.
3๏ธโฃ Fear of an AI bubble โ After months of rallies fueled by artificial intelligence (KOSPI +62% for the quarter, Nikkei +34%), institutional investors began taking profits in massive amounts amid worries about overvaluation.
โ ๏ธ Analysts remain divided: is this the burst of an AI bubble or simply a healthy correction after months of historic gains?
๐ฌ What do you think? Is this the start of something bigger, or just profit-taking?
