Have you noticed that with the popularity of AI,
the frequency of attacks on DeFi products is increasing?
First, the Drift protocol had 285 million stolen;
then Hyperbridge's dot was hacked;
yesterday the CowSwap frontend was attacked again.
I have a bold idea,
why don't we research various DeFi products,
rather than letting hackers attack, why not attack ourselves?
Project party: We think so too!
1. $DRIFT Protocol (April 2026)
Loss amount: Over 285 million dollars, one of the most serious security incidents in the Solana ecosystem in recent years.
2.
$RESOLV (March 2026)
Loss amount: 24.5 million
3. Balancer (November 2025)
Loss amount: 128 million
4. Stream Finance (November 2025)
Loss amount: 93 million
5. Yearn Finance (November 2025)
Loss amount: 3 million
Attack method: Hackers attacked its yETH vault (a customized stablecoin exchange pool), minting a large number of yETH tokens through a vulnerability.
📜 Major historical attack cases
Poly Network (August 2021): One of the most severe attack events in DeFi history, with stolen assets totaling
$POL worth up to 610 million dollars. The attackers exploited vulnerabilities in cross-chain protocols, but fortunately, most of the assets were returned afterwards.
These events highlight the severe challenges that the DeFi space still faces in terms of smart contract security, permission management, and cross-chain bridges, among other infrastructure aspects
