The 30 million dispute between Jing Tian and Sun Ge
The data currently given by the prediction platform is: a 76% probability of an uncontested civil judgment, a 14% chance of Sun Ge winning, and an 11% chance of losing. Judging from the trend, this looks more like a traffic event than a legal battle. Interestingly, the settlement has to wait until 2028 — the reason need not be stated explicitly. At present, even jurisdiction has not yet been determined, and issues such as the nature of the funds (betrothal gifts or gifts), whether they should be returned, and the amount to be returned are still at the pre-trial stage. If they insist on fighting it to the end, procedures such as evidence exchange, court hearings, and fact-finding will be unavoidable. More realistically, the trending window has already passed, and public back-and-forth would only repeatedly lay out transfer records, family accounts, and private interactions, while trial details could once again become public opinion material; the cost for both sides is not low. And civil litigation itself leaves room for resolution through mediation, withdrawal of the case, and mediation agreements. Taken together, an uncontested civil judgment seems to be the most decent ending.
