Not so fast. 👀 ADP reported 44,000 new private jobs — way below the 65K–75K consensus, and down sharply from 95K in June. Looks ugly on the surface. But here's the weird part: wages for job-switchers jumped 7% — the fastest pace in almost a year. If companies were truly running out of demand for workers, why are they still paying more to attract them? 🤯 The twist runs even deeper: tighter immigration enforcement may be slowing US labor-force growth — which means the “breakeven” number of jobs needed each month to keep unemployment stable could also be sliding toward zero. 44K looks weak by historical standards. But under the new rules of the game, it might not be weak at all. 🧠 Square Insight: Don’t read ADP as “the labor market is collapsing.” Read it as: labor demand is cooling while labor supply may be shrinking too. And remember — ADP ≠ NFP. The official NFP print drops in 2 days.
