⚠️ Warning: A Misleading Narrative About SOMI

Some posts claim there is a “gap” between SOMI’s funding and its TVL — and use this to imply something suspicious.

This argument is fundamentally misleading for several reasons:

1. Confusing project funding with TVL

The $270M funding comes from Improbable, the company that actually built somnia.
Project funding is money used for development, infrastructure, R&D, partnerships, and scaling — not money that is meant to sit inside the protocol as TVL.

Asking “Why isn’t the $270M inside the TVL?” makes no sense.No serious tech company — especially a British company like Improbable — deposits its full investment capital into on-chain TVL. That is simply not how funding works.

2. SOMI launched TVL during a market downturn

SOMI introduced its TVL mechanism at a time when the overall market was declining.

In a downtrend, many users avoid locking tokens, even if yields are attractive, because:
• locking during a falling market can magnify losses
• investors prefer liquidity when volatility is high
• people wait for clearer market direction before committing assets

Therefore, initial TVL numbers in a bearish environment do not reflect project quality and should never be used as a standalone indicator.

3. Partnerships with major institutions undermine the “scam narrative”

Improbable and SOMI have collaborations with well-established institutions including SoftBank and Google Cloud.

It is unrealistic to suggest that companies of this scale — with rigorous due-diligence processes and global reputations — would partner with a project “scamming users.” Such allegations simply do not align with how major enterprises operate.

Conclusion

This entire “funding vs TVL gap” narrative is a weak and logically incorrect attempt to create fear.
It misrepresents how funding works, ignores market conditions, and overlooks the credibility of SOMI’s institutional partners.

Always evaluate claims critically and avoid narratives built on flawed assumptions.

Can you imagine that this coin was just flying a few days ago with huge profit - but only after a few hours of going down sentiment changes completely

They completely forgot the rises

This is something you need to understand in crypto : Sentiment change completely in minutes if not seconds

And those people who say bad words about somi now - if it jumps, they will sing for it

So don’t rely with those posts - only people who have consistent and objective opinions opinions and your own research and gut.

Good for future supply and inflation

Little stability observed

$SOMI CEO of the company that’s behind somnia just wrote this in a comment to someone about the project strategy to handle the current situation :

“we’ve been building for 10 years, and the roots of this technology include defence and the metaverse. We’ve been sanctioned by Russia, we’ve dealt with metaverse winter and we’ve massed lots of cash to be ready for this one.”

The founder of smonia also commented on some changes in the company including some Staff leaving the project saying “There are some changes we are making as the team we had that got us to launch needs to be different going forward. We are going to be getting much closer to Improbable and MSquared. Stay tuned.”

That means somnia will be getting closer with the company that’s behind somnia and has the big funds Improbable - they are also hiring new stuff with talents according to the founder.

$SOMI Some people assume I always defend SOMI and never criticize it, to the point some even claimed that I am part of the project team. This is not true.

I simply push back against arguments that are inconsistent with facts or based on misinformation.

However, if you ask me what SOMI did wrong, let me tell you.

In my view, the biggest mistake was the dreamy, soft approach the team adopted toward the crypto market.

Let us not forget that Somnia is launched by a UK-based company called Improbable, which operates in the metaverse, gaming, and virtual world infrastructure sector, and this is their first venture into the crypto world.

So what is the issue?

They are too nice.
They want to build everything from scratch.
They want new projects to start inside Somnia’s ecosystem to the extent that they even organized developer workshops !! so they will teach developers how to create games !!

Where is the problem ?

You are in a market that is extremely fast-moving, aggressive, and unforgiving. This market will not wait for projects to slowly develop, especially with fierce competition. A token can drop in one day and skyrocket in another. The market thrives heavily on hype.

Entering with a classic development mindset might not align with a market that rewards hype, strategic alliances, and rapid community aggregation.

Example :

The Avalanche Multiverse Incentive Program attracted:

- Established DeFi projects like Aave and Curve
- NFT and GameFi protocols from other chains

This brought liquidity and activity to the chain before strong native projects fully developed within

The balance between quiet development and narrative building is the critical factor; neither can succeed in isolation.

So, what the project needs now is to bring existing established projects into the ecosystem, alongside the smaller projects they plan to incubate over time.

I believe the founder acknowledged this today and spoke about upcoming partnerships in that context.
