Aave Founder: European Regulators Plan to Restrict CASPs’ Access to DeFi, or Create More Closed Financial Ecosystems
According to a ChainCatcher report, Aave founder Stani Kulechov said he was disappointed by the European Central Bank (ECB) and the European Banking Authority (EBA)’s responses to the MiCA consultation. He said the two institutions not only advocated banning interest on stablecoin payments, but also proposed limiting crypto-asset service providers (CASPs) from offering users access to DeFi, including services involving non–MiCA-authorized stablecoin yield protocols. Kulechov said that related views also involve restricting DeFi services to specific user groups through “appropriateness testing,” and potentially establishing a certification regime for DeFi lending protocols. He believes that if regulators decide which protocols are suitable for European users, it could create more closed ecosystems, weaken the liquidity and network effects of open DeFi, and limit European users’ opportunities to participate in on-chain finance.

Arthur Hayes: Issuing More Money Could Boost Cryptocurrency Prices
ChainCatcher news: Arthur Hayes said that U.S. policymakers may support the AI industry and government debt financing by issuing additional money, which could push up cryptocurrency prices. If China were to shift from limited tightening to large-scale monetary stimulus, it could also boost demand for scarce assets. He is also watching financial pressures in France, including credit default swaps related to BNP Paribas and the spread on French government bonds. Portal Ventures managing partner Catrina Wang said that banks and asset management companies have an advantage in on-chain financial markets thanks to their existing client relationships. Todd McDonald, co-founder of R3, noted that public chains can help institutions reach customers beyond their own networks. Justin Kugel, executive vice president of World Liberty Financial, said demand from users for asset management and investment assessments still leaves room for intermediaries.

September’s new job gains forecast to fall to 90,000: Tonight’s real ‘big catalyst’ for the Nonfarm Payrolls may hinge on whether the August data is revised significantly downward
Author: Dong Jing, Wall Street Insights
The U.S. September nonfarm payroll report will be released this Friday (October 2). It is the last employment data point ahead of the October 28 Federal Reserve meeting, yet the market’s pricing of its impact has fallen to a recent low—while historical experience suggests that when the market is least concerned, that’s often when the data most stirs the market. Wall Street’s median expectation is for 90,000 new jobs, a sharp drop from August’s 162,000. The market is highly focused on whether the August data will be revised significantly downward. An abnormal seasonal adjustment previously exaggerated overall employment performance, making September’s figures face extreme base-effect uncertainty.
Three Major Transformation Directions in the Post-Fintech Era
Author: Simon Taylor, founder of Fintech Brainfood Compiled by: Jiahun, ChainCatcher Cloud computing and mobile internet are no longer the main forces driving transformation in financial services. Taking the baton are smart tokens (units that AI models use to process and generate information) and value tokens (on-chain tokens representing currency or assets). A decade ago, the ideas that made fintech different—such as mobile-first, cloud computing, and replacing bank branches with APIs—are now standard equipment for financial companies worldwide. Once these practices become commonplace, fintech shifts from the next direction of innovation to the industry’s everyday routine.
