Meme short-term sentiment—how is it looking today?
I only pay attention to memes when they have independent buying pressure. Otherwise, I treat them as volatility.
I measure sentiment by price changes, not by hype in group chats.
PEPE 0.00000438 (+3.30%), DOGE 0.0771 (+1.85%), BONK 0.00000302 (+1.68%), SHIB 0.00000486 (+1.46%)
For comparison: BTC 80605 (24h +1.20%).
PEPE is clearly outperforming BTC, up 3.30% over 24h versus BTC's +1.20%, showing independent buying pressure. But WIF is only at -0.56%, so there's no sector-wide confirmation. I'll only trade the leader, not bet on laggards catching up.
If the gap between the leader and the weakest coin narrows to within 2 percentage points, independent buying pressure has disappeared, and I'll close the position.
Data: Binance spot 24h / Binance USDⓈ-M futures / Yahoo daily (5-day change) / altme_fng / mempool_fees / defillama_chains / coingecko_trending. Missing figures are not filled in.
If memes aren't outperforming BTC, are you still holding?

Takeaway: BTC settlement finality depends on the longest chain, not on who in the group chat calls a rally first.
Insight: When large traders' long/short ratio is noticeably higher than the all-account ratio, you can follow the direction, but don't go all in.
