ZEC just crossed $1,000. The interesting part isn't the number. It's WHY. Zcash pushed above $1,000 on Sept. 4, reaching its highest level in years, while roughly $34.5M in ZEC shorts were forced to close. That creates an important lesson for crypto traders: A breakout + short squeeze can move price much faster than organic spot demand alone. When a heavily shorted coin breaks a major psychological level, shorts become forced buyers. That buying can create another wave of momentum. So instead of asking: “Can ZEC keep going?” I’d ask: How much of this move is new spot demand, and how much is forced positioning?
