@BabylonLabs_io I spent some time comparing Babylon's whitepaper with its tokenomics and unlock schedule. I wasn't looking for a trading signal. I was trying to understand where the protocol's value is actually created—and where it's expected to accumulate.
One contrast kept standing out.
Bitcoin stakers contribute the network's most important resource: security. They keep custody of their BTC, avoid bridges, and continue holding the same asset while participating in the protocol. From a design perspective, that's one of Babylon's biggest ideas.
BABY, however, plays a different role. It secures the Genesis chain, supports governance, and helps coordinate the protocol's economic incentives. Yet its tokenomics also introduce a variable that Bitcoin itself doesn't face: new supply enters circulation through scheduled vesting and unlocks.
That made me stop for a moment.
If Bitcoin provides much of the security that makes the protocol valuable, what ultimately drives long-term demand for BABY beyond its governance role?
I don't see this as a weakness or a criticism. Every protocol has trade-offs between utility, incentives, and value capture. The interesting part is how those pieces evolve as adoption grows and more tokens enter circulation.
I'm still reading, still comparing the data, and still trying to connect the dots.
