Ripple’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Christina Campbell, has unexpectedly left the Crypto asset payments platform to take up a related position at digital healthcare services provider Maven Medical Institution.

Campbell ended her tenure at Ripple in October after more than two years at the company, according to her LinkedIn profile.

While she did not give a specific reason for her departure, Campbell expressed gratitude for her "unforgettable" time at the Crypto company. Campbell joined Ripple in April 2021 after serving as CFO at payment platform PayNearMe for more than four years.

In an Oct. 7 post, Campbell noted the complexity and strict regulation of the healthcare industry, highlighting its similarities to the fintech sector with which she is familiar.

Campbell said, “I am excited to announce that I will be joining Maven Clinic as CFO. Throughout my career, I have seen firsthand how technology can improve people’s lives, and Maven is proving this at the forefront of healthcare. Thank you so much to everyone at Ripple for making the past few years so memorable.”

Campbell’s statement comes amid Ripple’s ongoing legal battle with the SEC. The dispute stems from December 2020, when the SEC filed a lawsuit against Ripple over the sale of its XRP token.

In July, a federal judge ruled that XRP sold to retail investors was not a security. The decision was upheld in October after the SEC appealed, and Ripple's trial with the SEC is scheduled to begin in April 2024.

In a recent statement, Ripple formally acknowledged the departure of CFO Campbell after more than two years in the role. The company thanked her for her leadership during a period of “strong” global momentum, business growth, and regulatory challenges.

Ripple expressed its best wishes for Campbell’s future endeavors and acknowledged her contributions to the company.

In bidding farewell to the CFO, Ripple stressed that despite the change in leadership, the company's financial position remains "strong" and it remains steadfastly focused on achieving continued success in key markets around the world.
