FriendTech, a SocialFi protocol launched in August, has experienced remarkable success, generating nearly $20 million in revenue within just a few months.
The platform operates on the Base network, which is backed by Coinbase and operates on #Layer2

It allows users to link their Twitter accounts and trade influencer profile tokens known as "keys" using #ETH
These keys provide users with exclusive communication access to the influencers.
FriendTech currently holds the top position as the highest revenue-generating app on the Base network and ranks as the second-largest revenue generator in the entire cryptocurrency space, according to data from DeFiLlama.

Moreover, Friend tech is projected to achieve an annualized revenue of $180 million based on its current rate of growth.
Overall, the platform has collected approximately $40 million in fees from users. These fees are generated by applying a 10% tax on the trading volume of social tokens, with half of the fees allocated to the project's team as revenue and the other half distributed to users whose keys are traded.
Although there have been several similar clone apps that have emerged, FriendTech still dominates the #SocialFi market in terms of daily trading volume.
However, the number of unique users on the platform has decreased significantly since late September, according to data from The Block.
In addition to the platform's revenue success, its founder, known as '0xRacer', has individually earned more than $440,000 from the platform based on aggregated on-chain data from Dune.
Security Challenges With FriendTech:
Despite its achievements, FriendTech has faced some security challenges. The platform recently addressed user security concerns by introducing the option for users to switch from phone numbers to emails.
This change was implemented in response to incidents of SIM swap attacks that targeted FriendTech users. In these attacks, the perpetrators gained unauthorized access to users' accounts. The platform has made efforts to enhance security and protect users from such incidents.
Unfortunately, there have been some recent incidents where attackers successfully targeted FriendTech users and obtained gains of approximately $385,000.
