$SOXSB The most convoluted part is that the spot price has already surged into the front ranks of the gainers list, yet the chart doesn’t have that “everyone goes crazy at the same time” vibe.
I just glanced at it while putting on a face mask. The spot price is $76.74, up +22.06% in 24 hours straight. The high and low moved from $61.63 to $77.35—this kind of range alone pretty much shows that emotions have been ignited 😅
But when you look deeper into the structure, you’ll find that it’s more like “spot is telling the story first,” not the futures market pushing the heat upward.
In the last 24 hours, spot trading volume is only $1.15M, with 3,152 trades. Honestly, that’s not especially outrageous.
Still, volume that can push the coin to
#2 on the spot gainers list suggests the liquidity (or positioning) wasn’t very deep to begin with. If there’s even a slightly concentrated buy order flow, the candlesticks can end up looking really good.
At times like this, I’d actually start checking whether the futures are losing control too.
If the futures trading volume is clearly several times higher than spot, the funding rate is getting pushed to a really uncomfortable level, and open interest is also surging at the same time—then that market can easily turn into one where emotions are squeezing each other.
But
$SOXSB getting into the list today feels more like “spot-driven heat” on my end. Even if the futures are following along, at least right now it doesn’t feel like someone has cranked the leverage to the limit.
Honestly, the easiest way for coins like this to fool people is when they rise very cleanly.
You’ll feel like it’s not randomly spiking, and it even sparks a kind of impulse: “Can it still be bought/continued?”
But the trading value is right there—$1.15M in volume. By definition, it means that if the follow-through doesn’t keep up after this, the pullback will be very sharp.
My current stance is to watch, not chase.
I’m not saying it can’t keep going up. It’s just that chasing from this level makes the risk-reward look unpleasant.
Especially since the high already touched $77.35, and it’s stretched so far away from the intraday low. Once the chasing crowd’s emotions fade, the reversal will come quickly.
What I’d rather wait for is this: if later on the futures side starts picking up volume, the funding rate doesn’t spike too aggressively, and open interest comes up—but not too fast—then this heat will look more like something you can keep an eye on for a bit.
Otherwise, since it entered the list today, it’s probably still being pushed mainly by emotion.
The market flips faster than turning a page. Keep a bit of your position.
