I don’t get it, so I have to ask: why are U.S. stocks red whether they’re up or down? Wasn’t it supposed to be guaranteed profit?

Oh, right—I suddenly thought of something kind of random. Earlier, I saw someone in the plaza use the fact that Binance was created by Chinese people, even though China bans cryptocurrency, to take a veiled jab at something. But someone else argued that Binance was founded by foreigners, also to take a veiled jab at something. For a Chinese Canadian who immigrated to Canada at age twelve, both explanations are technically possible. But I’m confused—aren’t they taking the same position? Why does saying it that way make it sound like their left and right brains are fighting each other?

I honestly can’t even. Have “independent thinkers” really regressed to needing “tailor-made statistics” to maintain their “progressive” image? All just to prove their pathetic, laughable “sense of superiority.” They shout “I think independently,” then produce this pile of garbage that completely ignores the need for rigorous comparisons and consistent standards. And then a bunch of people who think they’re “independent thinkers” see a chart like this, their central nervous systems kick in, and their brainwaves sync up as they collectively achieve an intracranial climax. Maybe collecting data, verifying its accuracy, and applying consistent standards of reasoning are just too difficult for fans of “independent thinking.” Actually, the data in the third chart is much more rigorous and consistent in its methodology than in the first two. But I doubt “independent thinkers” can tell the difference. Oh, and they’ll probably just choose not to believe it anyway. What can you do? I understand—their capacity for single-threaded processing is limited.

Why do so many people think civic consciousness and taxpayer consciousness mean the same thing as the “neighborhood security guard theory”? That theory only really holds in places like America. Do you know why it holds up better in America? Well, because the American government is essentially a representative elected to divvy up the spoils and maintain order—it serves the same function as a property-management security guard. In the eyes of big capital, the president is basically a court jester, trotted out as a target. And to those using freedom of speech to whitewash Mbappé: let me put it plainly. If your Mbappé has the freedom to insult the Teacher, then people here also have every right to demand an apology and call for him to be banned.

Okay, another rumor-debunking post, +1. The wording is all the same too—it feels like they’re bots. No idea why they’re posting these.

Ugh, I got reported by someone so petty. I figured it wasn’t discriminatory or insulting, and that line wasn’t a personal attack either—just being sarcastic. How did I get warned? Though it was definitely pretty aggressive. Still, “Fight! Feels great!!!” is right 😋😋😋

You’re so right—you’re absolutely the most independent thinker on the entire internet. While everyone else is being brainwashed by “grand narratives,” only you dare to voice a different opinion in a comment section; while everyone else blindly jumps on the patriotic bandwagon, only you retain the precious clarity of being sober while the rest of the world is drunk. You don’t watch the evening news, because it’s “propaganda”; you don’t trust the mainstream media, because it’s a “mouthpiece”; you only trust the clips and screenshots you stumble across on foreign websites, because those are the “truth.” When others are angry, you say they’ve been stirred up; when others are proud, you say they’ve been brainwashed; when others are silent, you say they’re numb. You’re always right, always clear-headed, forever perched on the heights of intelligence, looking down on the masses. You rejected one set of talking points precisely because another set had already taken over your brain—but you call that “independent thinking.” You’re not following the crowd; you’ve just switched directions and started following a different crowd, then convinced yourself, “This time, I’m the clear-eyed one.” Honestly, so independent—you’re so independent that you’re the only person in the whole world who gets it. You must be exhausted.

Guys, stop spreading rumors. Don’t just believe something because you saw it in a single image. The second image is a widely circulated rumor; the first is based on calculations from the data, and the increase isn’t very significant. 1. The starting points in history are different. In 2012, stock market valuations, economic conditions, and where each country was in its economic cycle all differed. Japan was recovering after a prolonged slump, while the U.S. benefited from the growth of its tech sector, so you can’t just look at the final gains. 2. The drivers of growth were different. The U.S. mainly benefited from tech giants’ earnings growth, India from economic growth and the development of its capital markets, and Japan from corporate governance reforms and a recovery in valuations. China, meanwhile, was affected by factors such as the property market adjustment, expectations for corporate earnings, and changes in market valuations. 3. The stock market is not the same as the economy. Stock market gains alone can’t prove a country’s economic strength, the merits of its system, or its residents’ standard of living. You also need to look at indicators such as GDP, corporate earnings, dividends, and valuations. In addition, the methodology used affects the conclusions. Different indices have different sector compositions, start and end dates, and ways of accounting for dividends, so directly comparing cumulative gains can be misleading. People used to say that everyone in crypto was highly educated. So how come, when it’s a rumor you want to believe, you suddenly stop thinking critically?

The Old ChimneyThere’s an old chimney at the edge of our residential complex, left over from the boiler room of a textile mill in the 1980s. The mill had it inspected the year before last. The main structure was fine, and it hadn’t reached the end of its designed service life, but the exterior paint was peeling badly, especially on the side facing the street. The report was posted on the notice board. I glanced at it as I walked by, but didn’t read it closely. There’s a guy called Aqiang in the residents’ group chat who makes short videos. Last summer, he started posting photos in the group, focusing exclusively on the side facing the street. To be honest, they did make it look pretty ugly. He said, “Is this really the face we want our residential complex to show the world?” Some people replied that it did look bad; others said, “Why not ask property management to give it a coat of paint?” Aqiang shot back, “Paint it? The maintenance fund belongs to the homeowners. Why should we spend it on a useless chimney?”

I really couldn't hold it together 😂😂 So, to put it bluntly, this kind of thing is completely lost in its own fantasy.

What a shame, $SOL 's position was too small. If I'd opened a bigger one back then, maybe $RLC wouldn't have wiped me out.

Based on all the information available so far, none of the following can be proven: 1. Whether Dongchedi tampered with anything 2. Whether the brakes failed to meet quality standards or passed them 3. Whether Huawei had the video taken down or Dongchedi took it down themselves 4. I’ll leave out the other issues, since they can mostly be inferred from the above Let me explain one by one. 1 and 2. Based on the video currently circulating, you can’t tell whether Dongchedi tampered with anything. The way the brakes are applied and the amount of force used in the video are actually consistent with what you might see in a normal emergency stop. But so far, there’s still no confirmed accident caused by brake failure, nor any video of one circulating. That said, the possibility of a quality issue can’t be ruled out either. So, based on the information available, neither 1 nor 2 can be proven or disproven. 3. So far, there’s been no clear information saying Huawei was behind the video being taken down. It may have been taken down by the platform to protect itself, or Dongchedi may have taken it down themselves. Either way, we’d end up drifting into conspiracy theories, and conspiracy theories are the least useful way to discuss this. So I’m inclined to think the platform took it down to avoid “violating the rules” (though those “rules” may just have been a precautionary measure). 4. As for why Huawei hasn’t filed a lawsuit, I think it’s related to points 1 and 2. The material released so far doesn’t provide a basis for making a judgment, which is a sufficient reason not to sue. Most of the information available right now is just one side’s account. I feel like it’s too early to take sides and say much. Also, the fact that state media have weighed in doesn’t mean they’ve taken sides. I think their stance is generally to discuss the matter on its merits. Of course, you can read a particular position into it, but that’s just your interpretation. Oh, though people who are inclined to take sides might interpret this post as expressing support for the other side. I should clarify first: in my view, Huawei’s technology is the only thing worth praising; its products and marketing have been an absolute mess. And I knew absolutely nothing about Dongchedi before this. When I say I’m bearish, I won’t say what I’m bearish on 😋

Eczema and dyshidrotic eczema keep coming back, and I’m at my wits’ end. The doctor says they’re chronic and hard to treat, and I don’t have the means to prepare traditional Chinese medicine myself, so I can only tough it out for now. Could anyone knowledgeable about this explain why these chronic conditions keep recurring? Why are the new drugs more or less the same as the old ones, mostly steroids? Is there really no other way to cure them for good? Could things change if biomedical research and development embraced decentralized collaboration, crowdfunding, and data sharing? I saw that $BIO is involved in DeSci/biotech research. Anyone here who knows the field? #BIO #DeSci #BiotechLabs
