The deposit function is no longer affected, and users can now make deposits as usual.

Withdrawals remain temporarily suspended while our team carries out a comprehensive security upgrade of the withdrawal service and related addresses. We expect to resume withdrawals within the next 48 hours and will share any updates promptly.

This incident was caused by a combination of factors. We are currently tracing the full attack path through the compromised computer, which may have been the entry point for the incident. We will publish a full report, including a root cause analysis, at a later date.

Security Incident Update

Dear User,

Binance’s preliminary investigation indicates that this security incident may have involved the compromise of a DevOps engineer’s laptop, allowing the attacker to access a service container and submit an unauthorized withdrawal transaction. We have found no evidence that any wallet private keys were compromised. Once the investigation is complete and all the facts have been fully verified, we will publish a detailed technical postmortem.

The total impact of this incident is estimated at approximately $6.3 billion. We have been working with blockchain partners to freeze the affected assets, and approximately $3 billion has been frozen on-chain so far.

Binance will cover all losses through the SAFU Fund and its own corporate funds. Please rest assured that user funds are safe. Once the remediation work is complete, we will also publish an updated Proof of Reserves.

As an immediate precaution, Binance has taken the following actions:
- Temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while security checks are completed;
- Revoked authorization for the affected address;
- Worked with law enforcement agencies and blockchain intelligence partners to track and recover the funds.

Our team is working around the clock to address this issue safely and thoroughly. We are working closely with law enforcement to identify these criminals and bring them to justice.
