This heavy-handed rescue mode has ripped the veil off L2 governance: it turns out that in extreme situations, code is not the final law; that small group of committee members is.
From a chip security perspective, this does provide a safety net, but in the long run, this kind of 'centralized privilege' is another dimensional blow to the native spirit of Web3.
