$BTC 's 24h range was under 1%.
$STRK 's was almost 8%. Trading both with the same position size is how accounts quietly bleed.
Today's numbers (Binance spot, 24h high vs low):
• BTC: 77,193 → 77,897, about 0.9%
• HYPE: 86.36 → 89.07, about 3.1%
• STRK: 0.04277 → 0.04608, about 7.7%
Position sizing starts with the stop, not the coin. The formula I keep coming back to:
Position size = (Account × Risk per trade) ÷ Stop distance
Example with a $10,000 account risking 1% ($100):
• Stop 2% away → $5,000 position
• Stop 8% away → $1,250 position
Both trades lose the same $100 if the stop hits. That's the whole point: volatility decides how big you go, not conviction.
Three habits that help:
1. Set the stop where your idea is wrong, then size to it. Never move the stop to fit a bigger position.
2. Smaller, more volatile coins like
$HYPE and STRK need wider stops, so smaller size. Their swings can blow through tight stops on noise alone.
3. Keep risk per trade fixed (0.5–2% is common). A losing streak then stays survivable.
Do you size by risk, or by gut feel?
Not financial advice.
