A 1% market move up nets you $10 profit. If you bought $1000 worth of crypto outright (1x leverage), a 1% move *also* makes you $10. The absolute profit for the same position size is identical. What higher leverage *actually* does is allow you to open that $1000 position with less of *your own* capital, meaning a tiny adverse market swing will liquidate you much, much faster.
