According to Foresight News, Taiko Protocol has responded to community feedback regarding its higher costs compared to other Layer 2 (L2) networks. Taiko explained that its Rollup protocol involves more logic and storage, using several upgradable proxies, which increases the cost of delegated calls.
Additionally, Taiko blocks are not proposed or proven in batches. This leads to more frequent interactions with Ethereum to compete for block space and ensure on-chain activity. The on-chain ring buffer has not yet been exhausted, resulting in higher storage write costs. However, this situation is expected to improve within approximately 40 to 60 days.
