As mining is core to any proof of work blockchain, we were deeply saddened to learn of the official closing of @KDAMiningClub, a popular project within the #Kadena ecosystem. Over the last several months, our team has been in communication with the remaining KMC team to help find a sustainable path through their recent adversities of alleged financial mismanagement by their former CEO. Unfortunately, they’ve decided the best option for their business and community members is to liquidate and cease operations.

The remaining KMC team has a plan to rebrand and move their mining vision forward through a new project called Chips. @Chips_KDA has applied for a grant and we are currently evaluating their business plan. While information around this new program will be handled by the Chips team, we are happy to hear they are planning to offer existing KMC NFT holders incentives and discounts to participate in the new offering.

While KMC shutting down its mining operations is certainly something we never expected to happen, our mining ecosystem is still thriving. The shutdown of KMC and their miners on Coastal Crypto occurred a few months ago, which only represents a very small portion of the total miners, and has no impact to our network currently . We will continue to support our mining community and are working to find ways to bring new miners into the Kadena ecosystem.
