BTC back at $81K โ CPI shook the market! ๐จ
Today, October 15, the crypto market is in the red. BTC is trading at $81,536, down -2.05%; ETH is at $2,412 (-3.55%), SOL at $104 (-2.70%), and XRP at $1.32. The US CPI data released last night turned everything upside down.
What happened last night?
1. HOT CPI: US September CPI came in at 3.7%, versus the expected 3.6% and 3.4% last month. Core CPI was also 2.6% versus the expected 2.5%. In other words, inflation isn't cooling down. That's why BTC plunged from $83,860 to $82,731 in just 5 minutes.
2. Fear of the Fed: After the CPI report, the odds of a Fed rate hike in October jumped from 22% to 50%; they're now at 26-30%. Nasdaq futures are down -1%, and South Korea's KOSPI crashed 8%, triggering a circuit breaker.
3. ETF Outflows: $150.5M flowed out of US Spot Bitcoin ETFs yesterday, compared with $175.7M in inflows the previous day. Institutional buying has stalled.
But the good news is that PYTH is still up +5.22% today among the top 100, and BTC is still trying to hold above its 50-week EMA at $81,600. Support at $80K-$81.5K is strong; if it breaks, $78K could be tested. BTC has been rejected at $84K 7 times; if it breaks through, it could reach $86K-$93K.
This isn't the time to panic-sellโit's time to learn. PPI, Retail Sales, and Jobless Claims are also due today, so volatility could increase further.
