EMPOWA just lost control of $ADA + $EMP. 💀

Empowa announced that 3 project wallets had received funds via unauthorized transfers, related to approximately:

143,710 ADA from the treasury

~36,000 NIGHT from the Midnight airdrop

~4.24M EMP from 2 old allocation wallets: empowa.public and empowa.ispo

The funds were transferred through intermediary wallets; about 120K EMP was sold on Minswap as of 1/9.

Notable point: Empowa says the issue involves a private key generated in 2022, and that some wallets were still using outdated configuration after the 2025 handover.

The wallet was upgraded. The private key apparently didn't get the memo. 💀

If the old private key is still being used, this is not only a “hack” story—it's a key management failure.
