Arthur Hayes: The AI Bubble Could Trigger a Larger Financial Crisis in 2028 On August 22, 2026, BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes said in an interview with Unchained that once the market begins to question the returns on AI capital expenditures, the financing cycle could reverse, potentially triggering a financial crisis around 2028 that is more severe than the 2008 crisis. At that point, governments may still respond with large-scale money printing to stabilize the markets. This, he argues, is the core logic behind why Bitcoin could ultimately benefit significantly from the bursting of the AI bubble.

SkyAI Shareholders Plan to Withhold Support for All Directors as Stock Falls About 86% Over the P...
Bastion Trading Limited, a 9.99% shareholder of Solana treasury company SkyAI (Nasdaq: SKYA), said in a Schedule 13D filed with the SEC that it intends to vote “WITHHOLD ALL” on all five incumbent directors at the company’s September 18 annual meeting. Bastion said it is “deeply concerned” about the company’s bylaw amendments that it believes curtailed shareholder rights, the Board’s adoption of a “poison pill” without a shareholder vote, and related-party transactions involving entities linked to a director’s family member. Separately, independent director Annemarie Tierney resigned from the Board and from its audit and compensation committees on December 19, 2025, approximately two months after being elected at an October special meeting. According to a subsequent company filing, Tierney had raised concerns with management regarding potential conflicts of interest and related-party transactions involving entities connected to the digital asset treasury strategy. SkyAI, formerly known as Sharps Technology, raised more than $400 million through a PIPE financing in August 2025 to build a Solana treasury and currently holds approximately 2 million SOL. Other PIPE investors included ParaFi, Pantera, FalconX, Arrington Capital, Avenir, CoinFund, Arche Capital, Electric Capital, and Saba Capital. SKYA currently has a market capitalization of around $59 million, with its share price down roughly 86% over the past year. Shareholders will also vote on a new equity incentive plan authorizing the issuance of up to 5.145 million shares, or 7.2% of a fully diluted share base.
