🚨 BREAKING: Coinkite has confirmed a critical firmware vulnerability affecting certain Coldcard hardware wallets.
The flaw has been linked to an ongoing attack that researchers estimate has drained approximately 1,367 BTC (≈$89 million) from more than 4,500 wallet addresses across multiple attack waves.
Coinkite has halted shipments, released patched firmware for affected devices, and warned that updating firmware alone does not secure recovery seeds generated on vulnerable firmware versions.
Users who created their seed on an affected firmware version are strongly advised to generate a new seed on the latest patched firmware and migrate their funds immediately.
Security researchers also warn that the attacks may still be ongoing. If you own a Coldcard wallet, verify your firmware version and determine whether your recovery seed was generated on an affected release.
