Can we really trust AI agents with money? $kiteI use AI to research complex topics, understand technical documentation, organize information, and turn raw ideas into structured content. It saves time, but I still verify facts and question assumptions. Now imagine giving an AI agent the power to spend real money. The challenge isn’t just making AI smarter. It’s ensuring its authority is limited, verifiable, and accountable. An AI’s convincing explanation doesn’t prove its identity or authorize a transaction. We need to distinguish who the agent is, who granted its authority, and what it is allowed to do. This is where Kite Passport offers a practical approach. Its spending-session model lets users approve an agent’s spending authority through a passkey, with a defined total budget, per-transaction limit, and time window. Within those approved boundaries, an agent can pay for supported services without requiring approval for every individual payment. For example, an agent could pay for a research API or computing service. Kite’s documentation describes payments through x402-compatible services and support for MPP-enabled services. Users can also review payment activity. These controls help limit financial exposure, but they don’t guarantee that an agent’s decisions are always correct. Official documentation chack source.(https://docs.gokite.ai/passport) DeFi raises the stakes. An agent might misread contract parameters, rely on outdated data, or encounter prompt injection through malicious external content. A safer system should separate AI recommendations from transaction execution: validate the target contract and permissions, simulate risky transactions where possible, and require human approval for high-impact actions. These are broader security recommendations not claims that Kite Passport automatically provides every DeFi safeguard. Blockchain records can show what happened, but they cannot prove the AI’s reasoning was sound. That’s why least-privilege permissions, strict spending caps, short session lifetimes, and carefully reviewed approvals matter. Security also depends on implementation quality and how users manage their credentials. What interests me most is the shift from AI that merely recommends actions to agents that can participate in real economic activity under defined rules. I’d start with one narrow task, a small budget, and a short session before granting an agent more autonomy. Autonomy should be bounded by enforceable controls not blind trust. If you could authorize an AI agent to do one task independently, which would you choose? A) Research and data analysis B) Pay for APIs and digital services C) Interact with smart contracts D) Manage an entire on-chain workflow What’s the one security rule you’d never compromise on? #KiteBBW $KITE @GoKiteAI

Who actually takes the hit when a crypto bot wastes your cash?

Honestly, letting an automated agent buy stuff on its own feels pretty sketchy. Sure, it sounds nice if a bot can pay for research data or sub to an API without blowing up your phone for permission every 5 minutes. But nobody wants to wake up to an empty wallet either.

This is basically what Kite is trying to fix. They use a setup called delegated authority with their Kite Agent Passport.

Instead of handing over your main wallet keys, you just set up a short-term allowance. You control the budget cap, which tokens it can touch, and when the access expires.

It runs on three simple levels: you hold the main key, the agent gets a limited pass, and temporary keys do the actual dirty work. The bot can act on its own, but it physically can't overspend.

When bots pay other bots, they use stuff like x402 and MPP protocols. A bot pings a paid service, gets the price, pays via its temporary pass, and gets the data back. Simple as that.

Now, what if the bot buys complete trash or picks the wrong service? Hard limits keep your loss small, but they won't stop a bot from making dumb choices. Devs still have to write good code, and you still gotta watch what permissions you hand out.

Bottom line-give bots a tight leash, not the whole bank.

Would you ever give a bot its own allowance?
