🇰🇷 Korea is taking tokenized securities seriously.

South Korea is preparing to tokenize stocks, bonds, funds and other securities, with the first phase expected to begin in February 2027.

And this isn’t just about putting TradFi assets on a blockchain for the sake of it.

Potential benefits include:

→ Faster & more efficient settlement
→ Fractional ownership of certain assets
→ More transparent ownership records
→ Potentially lower infrastructure/intermediation costs
→ Easier digital issuance and management of securities
→ Eventually, Korea plans to explore on-chain settlement using stablecoins.

The interesting part is that Korea isn't starting with everything at once. They're taking a phased approach, beginning with institutional MMFs/bonds, unlisted stocks and fractional-investment securities before potentially expanding to publicly offered securities.
