TRON is officially moving forward with one of its most important TVM upgrades of 2026.
TRON Mainnet Proposal #107 has taken effect, activating Prague- and Osaka-related features for the TRON Virtual Machine (TVM). The upgrade is designed to improve TRON's compatibility with newer Ethereum-style smart-contract functionality.
But what actually changed? ๐
๐น 1. Better Ethereum compatibility
The upgrade brings several features inspired by Ethereum's Prague and Osaka upgrades into TRON's TVM.
That could make it easier for developers working across different smart-contract environments to build and adapt applications.
๐น 2. Passkey support gets interesting
One of the biggest technical additions is secp256r1/P-256 verification.
In simple terms, this can help smart contracts work with cryptographic systems used by modern authentication technologies such as passkeys.
๐น 3. Developers get new tools
The upgrade also introduces historical block-hash access and the CLZ instruction, giving developers additional capabilities when building smart contracts on TRON.
๐น 4. MODEXP gets cheaper
TRON has also optimized the energy cost associated with the MODEXP operation.
That matters because computational costs are an important consideration when developers design and deploy blockchain applications.
๐ But what about $TRX ?
Here's the interesting part.
Despite all the attention around the upgrade, TRX isn't showing a massive price explosion right now.
TRX is currently trading around $0.34, with today's move relatively modest compared with the attention surrounding the upgrade.
That doesn't necessarily mean the upgrade is insignificant.
Network upgrades are primarily about infrastructure and developer capabilities โ their potential market impact doesn't have to appear immediately in the token price.
The bigger question is whether these new capabilities lead to:

๐น Greater compatibility with Ethereum-style infrastructure
๐น More real-world use of the network
For now, the upgrade is live โ and the next thing worth watching is whether developers actually use the new capabilities.
