Every cycle brings a new project that's supposed to change everything. I've seen it with ICOs, DeFi, NFTs, GameFi, and countless Layer 1s. Some reshaped the industry. Most quietly disappeared once the excitement wore off.

That's why I didn't pay much attention to Babylon (BABY) at first.

I assumed it was another attempt to pull Bitcoin into a new narrative.

But after digging deeper, I realized Babylon isn't trying to reinvent Bitcoin—it's trying to make Bitcoin's greatest strength useful beyond its own network.

The idea is surprisingly simple: enable self-custodial BTC staking so Bitcoin holders can help secure Proof-of-Stake blockchains without giving up ownership of their coins.
