According to the preliminary findings of Binance’s investigation, the security incident may be related to the compromise of a DevOps engineer’s laptop, which allowed an attacker to gain access to a service container and send unauthorized withdrawal transactions. We have found no evidence of wallet private keys being leaked. Once the investigation is complete and all the facts have been fully verified, we will publish a detailed technical report on its findings.

The estimated total losses amount to approximately $6.3 billion. We have been working with blockchain industry partners to freeze the affected assets. So far, approximately 3 billion $ . has been frozen on the blockchain.

Binance will cover all losses using the Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU) and the company’s own funds. User funds are safe. Once the recovery process is complete, we will also publish updated information on asset custody.#btc #bnb #Binance #ZECUSDT #ETH
