Earlier models like Namecoin and later systems such as Rootstock showed that Bitcoin miners could help secure additional chains, but they also came with practical limitations and didn't fully address incentive problems like Nothing at Stake in Proof of Stake environments. Babylon takes a different path by introducing Bitcoin staking backed by cryptographic accountability and slashing conditions instead of depending on merged mining.

For years, Bitcoin has built one of the strongest security models in crypto. Now that same security can potentially help protect Proof of Stake networks through self-custodial BTC staking, without wrapping Bitcoin or giving it to a custodian.
That shift caught my attention.
