Odaily Planet Daily News: The Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) of South Korea released guidelines on core ethical principles for participants in metaverse applications (including users and developers) at a ministerial meeting on Monday. Although the guidelines are not legally binding, the Ministry of Science and Technology encourages metaverse participants to refer to them. (Forkast) As previously reported, MSIT published a draft of core ethical principles that are essential for the development and participation of the metaverse. MSIT proposed that the three values of metaverse participants include complete self-identity, safe enjoyment, and sustainable prosperity. In order to practice these three values, the ministry proposed eight principles for participating in the metaverse ecosystem: authenticity, autonomy, reciprocity, respect for privacy, fairness, data protection, inclusion, and responsibility. MSIT plans to listen to the opinions of relevant departments, experts, industries, and non-governmental organizations, and finalize the draft by the end of this year so that these principles can be applied to actual use cases of the metaverse.
