According to Cointelegraph, a British court approved an appeal on July 20, giving Craig Wright the right to argue in his lawsuit that the Bitcoin file format is well-defined enough to receive copyright protection. The decision overturned a ruling in February that Wright’s argument was insufficient to show how the Bitcoin file format was originally recorded, and the next trial date is scheduled for January 2024.
Craig Wright, who has claimed to be the inventor of Bitcoin since 2016, filed a lawsuit against 13 Bitcoin Core developers and companies including Blockstream, Coinbase and Block, alleging infringement of his copyright to the Bitcoin white paper, the file format of the Bitcoin blockchain and database rights.
