CD Projekt Red’s commitment to developing and improving Cyberpunk 2077 has finally paid off. The game just achieved an “overwhelmingly positive” rating on Steam, which is a significant comeback from its relatively dismal launch back in 2020.

Cyberpunk 2077 has received multiple updates and patches since its release, showing CD Projekt Red’s commitment to improving game performance and delivering a quality gaming experience to players.

The open-world action-adventure game experienced tough times during its release in 2020. The launch was so bad that investors actually thought about suing the game studio. Reports show the investors were extremely disappointed and wanted to sue the studio for “materially misleading information.”

During its launch, Cyberpunk 2077 underwent a rough launch to the point Sony decided to offer refunds to Cyberpunk 2077 players who were discontented with the game on PS4 consoles. Sony extended their refund policy beyond the conventional two-hour playtime. Eventually, Sony decided to remove the game entirely.

Cyberpunk 2077 Major Updates and Turning Pont

Cyberpunk 2077 major turning point came with its highly praised Phantom Liberty expansion DLC. The Phantom Liberty expansion DLC was released in 2023, and it elevated the game to higher quality levels with more content.

The expansion introduced multiple gameplay options that enhanced its gaming experience and attracted more players. The action role-playing video game is set in Night City, where V is expected to maneuver a life where technology and humanity intersect in a corporate-centered world.

The players must have started enjoying the captivating storyline of the game, as evidenced by positive reviews on Steam. CD Projekt Red released a new Cyberpunk 2077 earlier this year, correcting a few gameplay issues the game was experiencing.

You can't imagine how much it means to me 😭 I have never been close to giving up and always believed this could be somehow possible, but never thought I will actually see it. Thank you so much for the second chance chooms🥺 https://t.co/HLr1Ykphu1

Powel Sasko, an Associate Game Director at CD Projekt Red, has expressed his gratitude to Cyberpunk 2077 players who have overturned the game’s ratings after it was negatively reviewed-bombed in the earlier days of its release. Cyberpunk 2077 almost went through the same fate Helldivers 2 is going through following Sony’s attempt to enforce PSN account linking for players.
