According to Foresight News, the Bangkok Post reported that real estate tycoon and Thai prime minister contender Srettha Thavisin promised that if he is elected prime minister and forms a government after the May 14 general election, 10,000 baht (about $300) of digital currency will be distributed to citizens aged 16 and over for local economic stimulus projects. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, chief advisor for public engagement and innovation at Pheu Thai, described the project as an effort based on blockchain technology to help sell Thai-made products abroad and bring digital currency into the country. In the early stages of the project, the 10,000 baht will be spent within a 4-kilometer community within 6 months to attract international digital currencies.
