It has made a profit by “clamping” people into trading—netting 117,000 ETH, roughly $300 million. Then, this year in June, a more sinister hunter turned around and stole $7.5 million. How did it crash? Sixty-six fake token contract addresses were set up specifically to bait its arbitrage logic. The bot scanned as usual, authorized the malicious contracts as usual—then once it had accumulated enough, it was taken down in one sweep.
